Their work proves that design should not be just a fancy pomp, but apart from aesthetic demands should link together functionality and cost-effectiveness. Thanks to many years of international experience with commercial and residential projects, Ian Bryan Architects think about design as well as the needs of clients who are going to live “in it”.

A New York Loft in the Heart of Ramat Gan

A Dream Home for a Retired Couple

In their golden years, a retired couple made a life-changing decision to move from their spacious home in Ra’anana to a brand-new apartment on the 24th floor of a modern high-rise in Ramat Gan. Their motivation? To be closer to their children, their grandchildren, and the lush greenery of Yarkon Park.

From the outset, the couple knew exactly what they wanted. High on their wish list were a warm, brick feature wall reminiscent of a New York loft and clever storage solutions to stow folding chairs for family gatherings. But beyond functionality, they wanted their new home to feel like a reflection of their vibrant, evolving lifestyle.

To make this vision a reality, they turned to interior designer Nurit Mor Yosef. Her challenge? To transform a standard contractor-built apartment into a unique, inviting space that balances practicality with personality—perfect for a couple embracing the next chapter of their lives.

“The couple wanted to live closer to their children, who reside near the border of Ramat Gan and Givatayim,” explains Mor Yosef. “They decided to downsize from their large property in Ra’anana and look for a smaller, boutique-style apartment that could meet their current needs. Their priorities were clear: proximity to family, easy access to Yarkon Park for strolls and outdoor activities, and a new building with modern amenities like a gym—all in a central location that would allow them to get around without a car.”

Their new home spans 117 square meters, with an additional 17-square-meter balcony that offers sweeping views of the city. The layout includes four rooms: a cozy living room and three bedrooms, one of which doubles as a safe room. Importantly, no dramatic structural changes were made—walls were left intact, and all rooms were preserved to ensure space for the grandchildren to sleep over during visits.

The design itself is a delightful blend of styles. “We chose a mixed, eclectic approach, balancing modern, industrial, and rustic elements,” says Mor Yosef. “Rather than committing to a single style, we carefully curated materials and details that work in harmony. The result is a warm, inviting home that feels both fresh and timeless.”

With its red brick wall, wood flooring, and thoughtful design, this apartment brings a touch of the New York loft aesthetic to the bustling heart of Ramat Gan—proving that even a downsized space can be big on character and charm.
