Living in Ein HaYam
Ein HaYam (עין הים) is a quiet seafront neighborhood in western Hadera, south of Givat Olga and beside Route 2, about 400 meters from the beach. Calcalist reported in July 2022 that the neighborhood, planned years earlier, had only taken shape in recent years, so many of its homes are in newer apartment buildings, and that the strip between the beach and the neighborhood's streets is a declared nature reserve that keeps the sea view open. The coast between Givat Olga and Mikhmoret is the Gador coastal nature reserve (שמורת טבע חוף גדור, Shmurat Teva Hof Gador), run by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
English-speaking retirees who bought here described it in a Nefesh B'Nefesh roundtable, written around 2018, as tranquil, with a beautiful beach and nature walks on the doorstep. The recorded sales higher up this page show what apartments here have actually sold for. Before you buy, check the approved plans for the plots around the building you're looking at, since the reserve protects only the land it covers. For the wider city, including retiring there as an English speaker, see our Hadera page.
